ANNA SCHURMANN

Public Health Consultant, Founder, Public Health Strategies

Anna Schurmann is a senior applied public health researcher who works with clients to achieve their goals in systems strengthening, through providing evaluation and strategy development. She has run a consulting business for almost a decade, with a 60% repeat rate across clients ranging from UN agencies, foundation to small NGOs. Anna has led short- and medium-term engagements in digital health, capacity building and data use. For example, last year she led a capacity building needs assessment and developed a data use training curriculum for the National Nutrition Mission (Poshan Abhiyan), for Alive & Thrive/ FHI360. She has worked across 15 states in India and 10 other countries, working from and living in Bangalore since 2010. She uses her expertise in research and analysis to frame questions and bring extra value to any engagement. Anna develops and disseminates products such as strategies, curricula, needs assessments, and assessment reports (with collateral materials including slide decks), adapted to stakeholder needs. Anna is originally from Australia and has also lived in Bangladesh, the US, the Netherlands, and Eswatini.

An independent researcher working in the development sector, Shraddha has over 20 years of experience conducting research and evaluations on women’s equality, gender justice and human rights. She has an LLM in Law in Development and a PhD in Women and Gender Studies from the University of Warwick. Currently, she is based in Singapore and is research lead for the Gender at Work component of the Countering Backlash – Reclaiming Gender Justice project led by the Institute of Development Studies, UK. Prior to that, she worked for several years in the UK and India as a lecturer, tutor, and researcher in the Universities of Warwick and Keele, and the Institute of Social Studies Trust (ISST).

ASMITA BASU

Researcher - Gender, Human Rights and Law

Asmita has 20 years of experience in project management, research, campaigning, advocacy and capacity development in the fields of gender and human rights. Her major work has been in the area of drafting laws and reviewing law/policy implementation on violence against women and women’s equality rights in India, Bangladesh and Lao PDR. She was involved in the drafting of India’s civil law on domestic violence and in implementing one of India’s largest violence against women prevention projects (‘Safe Cities Initiative’), supported by DFID in Madhya Pradesh. Her extensive experience also includes conducting program and project evaluations, as well as providing technical advice for designing and implementing development aid programs on issues such as refugee rights, crime prevention, child rights, labour rights, governance and minority rights.

ANCHITA PATIL

Medical Doctor

Anchita is a medical doctor with a specialisation in public health. Having started her career as a medical officer, she has over 13 years of experience of working with the government, non-governmental organisations as well as bilateral and multilateral donor organisations. She has expertise in maternal and child health, family planning and nutrition. Clear and succinct documentation (including proposal writing, strategy development, project process documentation etc) as well as data analysis and interpretation are her strengths.

DR. RANJANI GOPINATH

Public Health Specialist

Dr. Ranjani Gopinath is a Public Health Specialist with 26 years of subject experience in maternal and child health, nutrition, TB, infectious diseases and health system strengthening. She has international experience in program planning, design and evaluation design and has led large scale qualitative evaluations/analysis of maternal child survival and TB/HIV programs in South East Asia, Asia and Africa. She has successfully led the multi-disciplinary team providing technical support to Ministry of Health, Government of Andhra Pradesh (Southern India) in implementing health reforms. She has worked very closely with the urban program evaluating large scale programs and providing support to the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) through ADB. She successfully led the multi-disciplinary team providing ADB funded technical support to Ministry of Health at central and five states of India in implementing the national urban health mission. She is currently a consulting Public Health Specialist.

KOEL CHATTERJEE

Designer, health & wellness products and services

A designer with 15+ years of experience across the product creation process, Koel has worked extensively in the domain of health and wellbeing solutions. She is well versed in design thinking methods and tools, frequently bringing them into her work, be it conducting user research, facilitating workshops or iterating on concepts and solutions. She enjoys hands-on roles that allow her to convert ideas and concepts into prototypes and solutions.

SUBHADRA MENON

Health Communication Expert

Dr. Subhadra Menon is a development sector professional with proven competencies in public health communication & advocacy, translational research and evidence-based practice. Her career of 33 years, includes 20 years in leadership and senior management positions with professional consulting roles for national and international development sector organizations focused on public health, woman and child development and allied fields. Subhadra has provided technical and operational leadership to large-scale initiatives/institutions, diverse health communication efforts, writing/documentation, knowledge product creation, health literacy including behavior change communication (BCC) and skills-building and training for capacity in BCC. She has university-level teaching experience in mass communication, health reporting, convergent journalism and public health evidence use (under-graduate and postgraduate). An award-winning writer and author she has a large body of published work, including popular media news articles and features, books, research reports and scientific publications. Also a skilled public speaker and orator, currently, Subhadra is a consultant working in the domains of global public health and development.
