Baneen has been associated with various organizations at the national and international level for the last 7 years, providing support in research, documentation and programmatic interventions in the fields of health and development. Her special interests lie in the areas of human rights, maternal and child health.

  • Process documentation for the Sukshema Project, a maternal health project led by KHPT
  • Workload Review and human resources assessment of staff categories under the TB India Project led by Initiatives Inc, USA and funded by USAID
  • Researcher and Project Co-ordinator on a study on Quality of obstetric care in rural Karnataka, a partnership between Belaku trust and Zoe Matthews from the University of Southampton
  • Designing training materials and training of research personnel in the study protocol
  • Supervision and coordination of research protocol implementation, including revising field instruments, data collection
  • Preparation of reports and manuscripts

 

Community Health Workers for the ICDS scheme

  • Designed a manual of community health care, with community health volunteers (gelathis) supporting the government ICDS scheme –
  • Provided technical support in delivering training to the community health volunteers
  • Conducted monitoring and evaluation

 

Livelihoods

  • Created a clothing brand Fireflies by Baneen, with a strong emphasis on supporting talented artisans in India. Product design, sourcing materials, marketing, and capacity building of the craftspeople. Products targeted to an urban market in India and globally.
